Meadow saxifrage

In Epwell Churchyard we try to support the wildflowers and wildlife in general whilst not making the cutting too arduous! The Meadow Saxifrage was picked out in a survey some years ago as a wildflower that was worth trying to nurture and certainly over the years has become relatively widespread in the churchyard, though seasonally it can vary.

Meadow saxifrage is also featured in the Flora Britannica by Richard Mabey where churchyards are regarded as the last refuges for several species including meadow saxifrage.
