The Holy Land - Jerusalem

Just recently the world has been saddened by a fresh outburst of violence and hatred which mars the Holy Land. This is not the place to go into the history or the politics of that part of the world – there are too many entrenched points of view to make that worthwhile. However, surely, everyone can agree that we are deeply saddened that the part of the world which has hosted humanity’s encounter with God in the person of Jesus, as well as his prophets, priests, and teachers, is riven with inhumanity.

The psalmist urges us to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem”, and I would urge you to do the same. Meanwhile we mourn the loss of so many lives – many of them young lives; we regret the feelings of fear and prejudice; we long for the time - the coming of the Kingdom of God - when ALL peoples will be brought together into a new creation as members of one flock with one shepherd.
