Slavery and human trafficking

It is hard to believe that, although slavery was outlawed over 200 years ago in this country, it is still a very live issue in the world today. The United Nations conservatively estimates that 800,000 people are trafficked into slavery EACH YEAR, most of them female and either to domestic slavery or the sex industry.

If you believe, as I do, that the Kingdom of God is about Righteousness and Justice, and that the Church ought to care about those 800,000 people - not to mention the 27 MILLION who are effectively slaves already, then you might care to take part in a Saturday conference at St Aldate's Church in Oxford on April 13th organised by Voice for Justice. There are some excellent speakers, and it will cost you only £20. I could give you a lift!
