Back to Church Sunday

Back to Church Sunday is a national campaign to try to get people to at least set foot inside their local church. Some Vicars have even resorted to bribery! Bars of chocolate have been offered; Flowers on Mothering Sunday; Mulled Wine at Christmas!! And people DO come in large numbers on special high days and holidays.

But what about a weekly or monthly Back to Church Sunday? What could we do to make church more welcoming, more interesting, more inspiring, more something that YOU want to be part of?

Some ideas could include...

  • have Family Services at Sunday tea-time
  • make the church warmer
  • put cushions on the seats
  • serve real, good coffee afterwards
  • have activities for children
  • have a Kids Klub on a weekday
  • get some modern hymns
  • have discussions instead of sermons
  • keep it brief...

and I HOPE you have a load more good ideas.

I am certain that if we suggested shutting YOUR local church there would be an outcry. People want the church THERE as part of the village aesthetics and heritage, if nothing else, but also as a quiet, safe place to go into sometimes, to sit and think, to pray, to be still... so I believe there's "loads of life yet" in the local church.

Why not share YOUR ideas with me about how we can serve your and your family's needs better? I can't promise that we could do everything you might suggest... but we might try some things.

You could send me an email via the Contact page on this website - won't even cost you a stamp!
