Swalcliffe Concerts proudly present Purcell's Polyphonic Party in concert.

You are cordially invited to a party at the house of Henry Purcell in the year of our Lord 1686. Find out what happens when some of his more distant friends from rural Sweden and beyond gate-crash the party with their various and diverse instruments and music.

Purcell's Polyphonic Party are a trio of skilled multi-instrumentalists who come together to combine their love of Purcell, Playford, Baroque and the Nordic Noir. Their concert set offers a light hearted programme of music mainly from the 17th and 18th centuries, seamlessly blending folk with baroque, Swedish, British and more. Prepare for a humorous fusion of tunes, songs and stories featuring an armoury of unusual instruments including the spinet, nyckelharpa and viola d'amore, with a light sprinkling of accordion, bagpipe, gandola and flageolet for good measure. Let yourself be transported back to the year 1686 to witness an unusual but rather wonderful party with some astonishingly good music.
