October News

Broughton started the run of Benefice Harvest Festivals with their service on September 22nd, including a delightful anthem from the Choir. A delicious Afternoon Tea followed the service.

Food has very much been the theme at Broughton for the Harvest Supper came a few weeks later, with a delicious meal held in St Mary’s House, much enjoyed by all who attended, raising money for the church. Maybe a highlight was one Jim Wilson in the role of Bernard Miles. And as if that wasn’t enough there followed shortly afterwards a Greek Evening complete with traditional Greek food, a glass of Ouzo for those who wanted to sample this traditional Greek spirit, and then there was Greek dancing which got everyone onto their feet. This excellent and enjoyable event raised funds for St Mary’s House. Huge thanks are due to the organisers, the caterers, and the entertainers at all these events.

The Family Service in Bishop Carpenter School towards the end of September had the theme Angels and included all sorts of readings, some costumed angels, songs by the school and for all to join in, and some simple prayers. It was lovely to have all the children, many parents, and some “regular” members of the congregation taking part. The next Family Service, for Advent, will be in school on Friday November 29th at 2.15pm—you are ALL warmly welcomed to join us.

The Autumn Fayre is on Saturday November 23rd from 2pm to 4pm in St Mary’s House with all sorts of stalls, teas, etc; we very much hope you will be able to join us to boost church funds but also to enjoy one another’s company.
