May News

We were delighted to welcome the 7th Banbury Scout Group, some Guides, and a good number of families and friends, as well as the regular congregation to the St George’s Day commemoration on Sunday April 27th.

On May 1st the girls from Tudor Hall presented a May Day evening of English music in the church; a splendid evening of music – sadly not enjoyed by more people, but raising a splendid £301 for church funds.

On Sunday May 11th the Oxfordshire Historic Churches Trust held their 50th Anniversary celebration service in the church. Bishops John and Colin presided, and 250 invited guests attended. The Benefice Choir, under the direction of Mr Jim Wilson sang a cathedral style Choral Evensong, which, together with three rousing hymns, and a light-hearted but potent sermon from Bp John, made for a splendid service. The attenders left a hugely generous collection of £970 for church funds, and then adjourned to the Castle for a reception.
