Broughton’s Broadcast

The Summer Soccer School was an amazing four days of great fun, soccer Skills, and Christian input. Rob Taylor and his Team – James, Jim, Clem, Daniel, Jo and, of course, Margaret - as well as the Helpers from the churches gave totally of their energy and good will. Over 30 children attended. “Shall we do it again next year?” YES came the reply.

Open Door: the church door will be unlocked for most of the day, most days, from Easter to the end of September. St Mary’s is the Parish Church for Broughton and North Newington – and if you’ve never yet been to see the mediaeval wall paintings, or the Fiennes tombs, or the Hatchments then DO pay a visit soon.

Coffee Morning in St Mary’s House, Saturday September 6th 10.30am -12noon to which you are ALL most warmly invited. As well as coffee there will be a Bring & Buy Stall, a Raffle, and the chance to chat and catch up with friends old and new.

Gardeners – a very big thank you to the team that worked on the rose garden in the closed churchyard – Janet Hodges, Michael O’Dea, Doreen Knight, Neil Howarth, and to Chris Hopkins for removing all the rubbish. The area has now been seeded with grass. The area had looked very sad, overgrown and untidy, but also we are in the process of creating a new area within the churchyard for the interment of cremated remains.
