Broughton news

The Friendship Club met on Tuesday 6th June; the speaker was Janet Hodges whose subject was Churches that have played a part in my life. These ranged from Burma to Singapore, Germany and of course the UK. This was a really interesting talk and covered all the different religions and ways of worship. She also had pictures and details of when they were built; there was even one built on stilts. Janet goes into Hospital on June 29th for her hip replacement so we wish her all the best for a speedy recovery.

The Fête held in Broughton Castle on June 10th was another success. The main attraction was The Sealed Knot which included a Saye & Sele regiment who carried out a battle re-enactment in the castle grounds. There were many stalls offering a range of goodies to buy, also lots of games plus face painting and a Tug of war competition plus the Aunt Sally and Skittles. There was also the food outlets with teas and cakes, not forgetting the BBQ. Many thanks to all who took part to make this a success. Grateful thanks to Lord & Lady Saye & Sele and Martin for the use of the castle grounds. We raised over £5000 profit.
