October News

Seven dogs, a cat and several toy animals brought their owners and companions to church on 21st September to hear the Story of Creation. All were well behaved and were rewarded with refreshments in church after the service.

A Silent Auction organised by Ronald was held in the village hall and raised £360 for church funds. This was a new event for Shutford and despite good advertising had only about 25 bidders for the lots generously donated by villagers.

The church was beautifully decorated with fruit, vegetable and flowers for the Harvest Festival on 29th September. As usual a Harvest Supper was held the following evening: £487 was raised from the sale of the produce, a raffle and donations towards the supper food. Thank you to everyone for their donations and support in various ways, not least those who prepared the supper food. 44 loyal villagers and friends enjoyed the evening but there is usually room for more: people of all ages are welcome at this fun, inexpensive evening.

The annual Remembrance Service on 10th November will be at 6pm. Brass Bits have agreed to play for the hymns and a donation from the collection will be made to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal.
