May News

The Beetle Drive held on 10th May raised £140 for church funds. Fewer children than hoped joined in the fun but all who attended enjoyed the evening including the hot dogs, mini pizzas and cakes available. Another Beetle Drive is planned for the autumn.

John and Julie Hodgkins held a very successful Coffee Morning at their home on 17th May raising £300 from donations, a raffle and bring and buy stall. The morning was sunny so everyone was able to sit in the garden.

Both these events were supported by a small group of loyal and generous supporters who value the presence of the church in the village.

Various door to door collections have taken place in the village during the last few weeks including Christian Aid which so far has brought in £272. Anyone who missed the collector can still donate on line at www.caweek.org.

Members of the PCC have been discussing the involvement of the church in village life and how more people can be encouraged to join in church activities and worship. We will be building on our strengths and will be adapting to the ever changing life styles and commitments of modern life. If Sunday morning is not ideal for coming to church why not join us for Morning Prayer on Saturday at 9.00am? It’s only 30 minutes of your time: give it a try.

The Songs of Praise at 6.00pm on 29th June mentioned in the Shutford News has been postponed as it clashed with the Deanery Event that evening. It will be held on 31st August at 4.00pm instead and with Afternoon Tea at the conclusion.
