Shutford news

Two minutes silence was observed at the village war memorial on Remembrance Sunday and Armistice Day. 50 people were at the Remembrance Day Service at 6.00pm. Deddington Brass played music for the hymns and before and after the service. A retiring collection of £131 has been given to RBL Poppy Appeal. In his address the Rector made reference to his son, a serving soldier, and the young service men and women needing help after their armed forces duties have finished.

After a successful Messy Church event in Tadmarton mid-November with 16 youngsters, their guardians and helpers we move to Shutford on 12th December. The event starts at 4.00pm and there will be a Christmas theme with lots of crafts, good company and food to finish.

This year’s Christingle will be on Sunday, 20th December at 3.00pm. A collection will be given to the Children’s Society and there will be refreshments in church followed by the Christmas Draw.

The Annual Village Carol singing around the village will be on Tuesday, 22nd December starting from Jame Corner at 6.30pm. There will be refreshments in church afterwards. If the weather is bad the carol singing will be held in church.
