News from Shutford

The PCC met on 2nd February to review last year’s church attendance and activities and accepted the Annual Report and Accounts which will be adopted at The Annual Parochial Church Meeting. This will be held at 7.30pm on 8th March in Shutford Village Hall. That meeting we also elect a new PCC, churchwardens and update the Electoral Roll.

February Benefice Service was held in Shutford with representatives from all our six churches present including the choir. St Valentine's Day was celebrated with a special Marriage Service led by Christopher Hall. Three couples reaffirmed their wedding vows. There were special prayers and hymns with the celebration finishing with bubbly and nibbles. The church tower was illuminated during the evening.

Helen Hodgkins Trust is our Lent Jar of Change Appeal charity this year. Set up by Emma in memory of her mother, this charity aims to save and change lives in Africa with the simple gift of water. Details of the charity can be found in church or on line. Our Lent Lunch in Shutford Village Hall from noon on 21st March will raise funds for Katharine House Hospice.

There will be some new Fairtrade leaflets in church during Fairtrade Fortnight which is 29th February – 13th March. The Fairtrade Mark is 21 years old this year and the campaign concentrates of breakfast ingredients including bananas and tea.

This year the Village Fete/Festival will be held on Saturday, 18th June on the Manor Field from 13.00: see www.shutfordvillage.com.
