Shutford news

26 villagers came to the Beetle Drive on 11th November raising £60 for church funds. Everyone enjoyed the afternoon including the refreshments after the games.

Acts of Remembrance took place at 11.00am on 11th and 12th November at the village war memorial and also at the Remembrance Service in St Martin's Church at 6.00pm. Deddington Brass played for the hymns and before and after the service. £180 has been given to the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal from a church collection and donation: the result of the village door to door collection will be known in a few weeks.

Shutford Village Hall is being used for a variety of new activities and everyone is welcome to join them. There are two sessions of Pilates on a Wednesday and Yoga on a Friday. There is a lunchtime pop in at 12.30pm on Thursday when soup and other refreshments are available. The Women's Institute have a coffee morning on a Saturday morning following their monthly meeting on the first Tuesday of the month. The Film Club usually meets on the last Saturday evening of the month. See the village website for full details.

In addition to the above, sandwiched between Bingo on 1st and Crafts on 3rd, the PCC is arranging a Souper Saturday in the village hall from 12 noon on 2nd December. There will be a variety of homemade soups and other goodies available and the lunchtime get together is open to all from across the benefice.

The following Saturday, 9th December, there will be an Advent and Christmas themed Messy Church at 4.00pm in the hall. This is suitable for pre-school and junior school children with lots of crafts and refreshments to finish.

Full details of Advent and Christmas Services are published elsewhere. In particular, this year's Christingle is in church on 17th December at 3.00pm with a collection for the Children's Society. The next day, there will be carol singing around the village with music provided by Deddington Brass with a collection for a local charity. On Thursday, 21st December there are Carols by Candlelight for Advent and Christmas at 7.30pm. There will be seasonal refreshments at all these events so wrap yourselves up and join us.
