Shutford news

The PCC met on 5th February to accept the Annual Accounts and Report ready for the APCM on 19th March. Special thanks to John Wilson of Tadmarton who has checked the accounts again this year. There was a financial surplus of £3900 in 2018 thanks to the support of our loyal congregation, fund raising and a donation from the Shutford Festival. We were able to give £1880 to charitable causes from special fund raising and collections.

Our core congregation is stable but we have few families coming to church. To reach out to families we hope to have Messy Church more often with the first one planned this year on 23rd March in Shutford Village Hall at 4.00pm: Messy Church is an ideal time for younger children and their families from across the benefice to have a couple of hours of fun finishing with refreshments. As part of other outreach, we will continue to support the weekly community lunches, raise money for local charities through social occasions and keep an eye on our neighbours as best we can. Contact with the vicar and churchwardens can be made by telephone or email: see the Wykeham Benefice News, this website, Facebook, Shutford News or noticeboards for details of church events.

We look after the fabric of the church to the best of our ability,  which like the village hall and pub is an important part of village life. The church is open everyday for people of all denominations or none to visit for some quiet time or organised worship. The churchyard is a good place to see flowers in season with snowdrops particularly beautiful now. The church tower is illuminated for special occasions and on 14th February we remembered our loved ones here or no longer with us.
