Shutford news

The Summer Festival was held on the Manor Field on 22nd June. With sunny weather it was well attended by villagers and visitors and raised more than £5000 for the church and village hall. Special thanks to Rita Livesey who organised the event and the many sponsors and supporters who helpedmake the day a great success. As usual the church team provided excellent cakes for the teas: well done to all concerned.

Community Lunches continue every Thursday in Shutford Village Hall at 12.30pm with the one on 8th August being hosted by Ronald and Elisabeth: everyone is welcome.

The next Messy Church will be in Shutford Village Hall at 4.00pm on Saturday, 21st September with a Harvest/Autumn theme.

At the end of the month our Harvest Festival in St Martin's church will be at 6.00pm on 29th September with a Supper and Sale on 30th September at 7.30pm in the village hall. Funds raised at the supper will be given to Katharine House Hospice.

At a recent PCC meeting, “Common Vision” was introduced and a question asked: “What is the role of our Church in our community and what could that look like?” This will be discussed over the coming months throughout the Deanery and Diocese. In general, older members of our communities serve on Church, Parish Council and other organisations committees so it is most important that there is outreach to younger folk and plans made for the future. We must all be prepared to ask for and accept help.
