Swalcliffe news

At long last after many weeks of planning we have wireless broadband available in the village. SugarNet, our provider, will be pleased to help if you are interested ... Just look on their website and give them a ring!

Harvest Supper this year will be a little later than usual, on Saturday 28 October in the Village Hall. Please make a note in your diary; more details later.

Our volunteer churchyard gardeners are doing an amazing job keeping down the long grass and cow parsley, struggling with temperamental mowers (now hopefully fixed for the second time!). Many thanks to Maurice, Gillian and Michael for your sterling work! Any extra help would be gratefully received if you have a spare hour or two.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the Al Fresco supper on Saturday, 8 July. Still some tickets available from Barbara on 788 555. A delicious supper but we need to know numbers. Hurry, hurry!

More Tea, Vicar? Sunday 13 August at 4pm. Organ Recital – cheerful and accessible pieces - given by Ronald and Liz with tea and cakes. Please give Gay 788 427 or Virginia 788 098 a ring if you and friends would like to come; an indication of numbers would ensure we have enough goodies on the table.

On her recent Quiet Day, Liz was given a vision of Swalcliffe Church as a Beacon of Light for the surrounding area and the Benefice. She is not prone to “visions” but this was real, and was definitely about Swalcliffe church. This undoubtedly reinforces our hopes that the church will be open, and available, and used by more people. Do go in and enjoy its peace – and use the little pamphlet “A Pilgrimage Around the Church”.
