The Ukrainian accordionists Igor and Oleksiy delighted their audience of some 75 on Tuesday July 23rd with their technical brilliance and amazing musicality. A standing ovation and an encore – Elgar’s “Nimrod” concluded the evening. They took away with them £1135, plus over £200 worth of cds sold. They have never earned that much at a single concert ever before – and the buying power of that in Ukraine, to help severely disabled victims of Chernobyl, is considerable. Thanks to all who made this happen – specially Gay, Martin, Keith, and Phyllis who cooked them wonderful fish and chips just after 10pm! I hope they will return next year.
