Swalcliffe were delighted to welcome the local Roman Catholic congregation for a Celebration of Mass in church in mid June. Fr Brian Doolan Presided, at the first RC Mass here since Millennium Year.

It was a busy month for Swalcliffe for shortly afterwards they held their Midsummer Night’s Dream Al Fresco evening in the garden of Peter and Virginia’s home. This excellent evening, complete with Tudor Pies, included a recently discovered playlet by Will I Am Shaklespeere which caused a great deal of mirth for cast and audience alike. Not content with that, there was a Pet Service and BBQ Tea the following evening. Sadly no Anacondas or Tarantulas attended, but a goodly contingent of dogs and children, and an excellent tea – thank you Martin!

The Barnsford singers came to sing Choral Evensong during July and were very warmly received. Under the direction of David Roberts, and accompanied on the organ by Dr Roy Massey (ex Hereford Cathedral) they filled the church with beautiful music. We all also enjoyed a splendid afternoon tea courtesy of “Team Swalcliffe”.
