Broughton's babbling

An excellent Christmas Bazaar was held in St Mary’s House on Nov 23rd with all the usual stalls, teas, and lots of chat. I was so pleased to hear that Lady Saye and Sele won first prize in the raffle – a trip round Broughton Castle! Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make the event a success, specially Beryl and her team.

We were delighted to welcome Bishop Carpenter School to church for their Harvest earlier in the term, and on Friday Dec 12th at 2pm they are coming for the annual Christingle Service. We also hold a Family Service in the school three or four times a term, on a Friday afternoon at 2.30pm, which attracts over 100 children and about 50 adults. You are always most welcome to attend – look in the pewsheet for dates.

The Remembrance Sunday service was attended by over 100 people. Last Post and Reveille were sounded by a young trumpeter from Tudor Hall School to whom great thanks.

The Friendship Club enjoyed their speaker in November – Lord Saye and Sele speaking about his part in the D Day Landings; a most moving talk, to a packed audience. Thank you, My Lord.

St Mary’s House are delighted that their new boiler has been installed – fund raising and a much appreciated gift from the church made this possible.
