Summer Festival

We are delighted to present a fun packed day and evening of festival enjoyment in the village of Shutford, on Saturday 21 June in The Park Manor House from 2.00 pm (grounds to the Cadbury family).

  • As well as the traditional village stalls, we have an assortment of children’s activities, bouncy castle, inflatables and cup-cake ride!
  • Candy Couture will be tempting us with their candy floss & popcorn.
  • Village Tug of War competition between North Newington and Shutford takes place at 3.00 pm.
  • Dance show from Encore taking place at 2.30 pm
  • Sponsored BakeOff (watch out Mary Berry) at 2.15 pm, being judged by our sponsors Abraxas.
  • Drinks & BBQ served throughout the day!

Music during the day is from the Hook Norton Brass Band and in the evening we have a line-up of bands including:

  • our very own Hulbert & Friends
  • Feedback, a four piece local Oxfordshire rock band formed from the ashes of the now legendary Paperback Writers with a rocking bass man and singer. They cover some of the rock classics with some surprises thrown in, all designed to get the crowd jumping and rocking along.
  • Bluestone, a 5-piece North Oxfordshire rock covers band who've been performing at pubs and events around the Banbury area since 2006. As a guitar-based band, they play a mix of classic covers from the likes of the Rolling Stones, Thin Lizzy, ZZ Top, Queen, and Status Quo, as well as more recent songs from the Stereophonics, Black Keys, and Greenday. They aim to play music that their audience want to dance to - or at the very least, sing along to!

Finally, to open the event we have Felix Francis, Dick Francis’s youngest son. Born in 1953, Felix studied Physics and Electronics at London University and then embarked upon a 17 year career teaching Advanced Level physics at three schools, the last seven as head of the science department at Bloxham School in Oxfordshire. Over the past 40 years Felix assisted Dick with both the research and the writing of many of his novels. They shared a love of racing and often worked together on plot and character details at Dick’s home in the Cayman Islands.

All proceeds from the day go to Shutford Community Association, Shutford Village Church & Shutford Village Hall.
