A successful Songs of Praise was held on 31st August with 23 villagers and visitors enjoying the hymns chosen by members of the congregation. Reverend Ronald gave detailed information about the hymns origins and their writers. Tea and cakes were served in church after the singing. Perhaps the next one could be a village top 10 favourite hymns with an invitation extended to every household to make a choice? Why not have a Benefice Big Sing similar to the BBC event: we may not have a Royal Albert Hall but we have large enough churches to accommodate a good size congregation.

A Beetle Drive is to be held in Shutford Village Hall at 4pm on Saturday,18th October. This is fun for all the family with prizes and refreshments available: any money raised will help towards the church running costs.

This year's Remembrance Sunday is on 9th November. The annual Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal House-to House collection starts on 25th October.
