April news

£200 raised at our Lent Lunch on 25th March has been given to BYHP (Supporting Young People in Housing Need) in North Oxfordshire. We have also been able to help restock their larder with food stuffs: there is a collecting box in St Martin's Church for gifts of canned food, dried food and staples such as rice and pasta. BYHP work with young people aged 16 - 25 who are homeless, at risk of homelessness, vulnerable and disadvantaged to empower them to have a brighter future.

We have also collected about £100 through our Jar of Change Appeal for Water Aid: if anyone still wishes to make a donation to this appeal contact Ken Jeffs.

Easter Day worship was led by Elisabeth Hawkes who also played the organ for the hymns. The service was well attended and the church was beautifully decorated with flowers and greenery. Easter eggs were shared with the congregation after the service.

Christian Aid Week this year is 12th - 18th May when we will be invited to Bite Back at hunger. Please look out for the distinctive red and white envelopes dropping onto the door mat. There will also be a door to door collection for the RNLI in May so I hope that we do not succumb to charity fatigue.

We are experimenting with a later time for all age Family Worship on Sunday with a different theme each month. Please try and support this short lively informal service which always finishes with food and drink! Everyone is welcome.
