Swalcliffe news

How wonderful to see all Ronny's paintings and flowers filling the church for Art Week.

The new stairclimber for disabled access was in use three times during this week but we are still needing more volunteers to help guide the machine. Colin is now a trained 'trainer' so please get in touch with him (788127) if you have a little time to spare and would like to learn.

What a fantastic evening we had with the Hook Norton Brass Band with over one hundred people attending. Lovely to see the church full with everyone in loud voice and even dancing in the aisles towards the end! The Band want to come again and have already put forward some ideas for the future. Thank you to all who helped and to everyone who came along for 'The Big Sing'. Just under £800 was made to support the ongoing upkeep of the church.

Future events:

  • Saturday, 7th July at 7pm:  The Esterhazy Singers Summer Concert. This is an exceptional choir from the City of London, singing music composed by women over the last 100years. Tickets £10 on line from www.swalcliffe.org.  Licensed Bar.
  • Saturday, 21st July 7pm. Al Fresco - Barbecue and Music, by kind invitation of Mike and Barbara Taylor at Wykham Cottage, Park Lane. Tickets £14 from Barbara 788 555 or Gay 788 427. Bring your own wine, soft drinks provided. A casual and fun evening!
  • Sunday, 12th August at 4pm. The Vicar would like more tea: after our very popular Organ Recital with teas last summer Ronald and Liz will be back playing by special request.
